Giving with health in mind

Commercial marketing has sold us that warm glow of pleasure associated with beautiful boxes of chocolates, magnificent bubbly and exciting biscuit assortments. Now we can show our appreciation, our respect and our love in all sort of calorific ways and reflect later on whether it matters.

It matters — Excess body fat is associated with increased risk of 13 cancers and we are seeing significant increases in many of these cancers at younger ages. Action is needed at all levels to help address these trends.

What can we do in society to reduce the promotions on those excess calories? Here at SCPN we are focussing on tipping the balance in favour of no calorie/no booze options for celebrating, and have created a series of cards to promote our ideas.

Here are our Scottish Themed Alternative Thank you ideas instead of the standard toffees, shortbread and Whisky

At the end of the school year, we all want to give our teachers a gift to thank them for all of their hard work.  But some teacher can end up with 30 bottles of wine….which nobody needs! ?

Here are some alternative gift ideas to show teachers how much we appreciate them, without the extra calories…
